The Performance Matrix

Engineered For Explosive Combat Power

Punches aren't thrown by the arms alone — force originates from ground reaction forces, transfers through the hips, stabilizes across the core, and snaps at impact.

💥

1. Rotational Kinetic Force

Developing maximum torque in the transverse plane. We train the posterior chain, glutes, and oblique sling systems to accelerate rotational striking speed and heavyweight knockout leverage.

  • Rotational landmine thrusters & punch presses
  • High-velocity medicine ball rotational slams
  • Banded hip-drive & pivot speed mechanics
🛡️

2. Structural Armor & Resilience

Striking requires intense deceleration capability. We bulletproof the rotator cuffs, scapular retractors, neck, and lumbar spine so athletes can absorb impact and punch without shoulder impingement.

  • Posterior chain deadlifts & heavy farmer carries
  • Neck strengthening & isometric cervical hold work
  • Anti-rotational Paloff presses & hollow core holds
⚡

3. Glycolytic & Lactic Buffering

Combat sports alternate between explosive anaerobic bursts and active aerobic recovery. We condition athletes to flush lactic acid rapidly between combinations and maintain power in round 12.

  • Heavy prowler sled sprints & push-pull complexes
  • Assault air bike tabata intervals
  • Combat heart-rate recovery drills

Athlete Questions

Strength & Conditioning FAQs

Clear answers on how combat strength will transform your fitness and punch mechanics.

Will lifting weights make me slow and stiff in the boxing ring?

Not the way we train. Traditional bodybuilding routines isolate muscles through slow cadences, which can reduce punching speed. Our combat S&C emphasizes speed-strength, plyometrics, and rotational velocity, making you faster, more explosive, and more resilient.

I have a past shoulder or lower back injury. Can I still participate?

Yes. Coach Boule Godogo assesses your joint mobility during your first session and modifies exercises accordingly. We focus heavily on posterior chain reinforcement and scapular stabilization to heal and protect vulnerable joints.

Can runners, cyclists, and corporate athletes benefit from this?

Absolutely. Endurance athletes frequently lack rotational core power and lateral hip stability. Our functional athletic training prevents common repetitive-strain injuries while improving overall athletic economy.

What should I wear and bring to my first session?

Wear standard athletic gym apparel and flat-soled training shoes (or cross-trainers suitable for turf work and lifting). Bring a sweat towel and water bottle. We have filtered water stations and private hot showers on-site.

Is S&C included in the general gym membership?

Yes. At ROBO Gym, we don't separate boxing from conditioning. Our R1,100 monthly membership gives you total unrestricted access to all boxing classes, strength sessions, and open weight floor use.

Where is ROBO Gym located and is there parking?

We are located at 16 Fricker Rd, Illovo, Sandton. Free 24/7 guarded parking with security boom-gates is available on the property for all gym members.
